2 Dallas Police Officers Shot, 1 Civilian Shot at Home Depot in Dallas — Suspect in Custody

Dallas police responded about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday April 24, 2018 to a shooting near a Home Depot at 11682 Forest Central Dr, Dallas, Texas.

Initially, multiple sources confirmed that two police officers were shot, and that one police officer died, and one police officer was critically injured. Late Tuesday, it was reported that two police officers were critically injured, and fighting for their lives. A civilian was also shot, but a condition connected to the civilian was not initially available.

One person was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.

Officers were searching for the shooter in a large area, including a wooded area behind Home Depot. Police released a photo of 29-year-old Armando Juarez, who was not initially categorized as a suspect, but was wanted for investigation. The photo is a mugshot from January 2018 when Juarez was arrested for unlawful use of a vehicle.

UPDATE: Later Armando Juarez was defined as a suspect by Dallas Air 1 (a police helicopter division) and a “person of interest” by Dallas PD. Armando Juarez, 29, who was believed to have left the location in a white pickup truck, was apprehended after a lengthy car chase.

The two police officers, who were shot, had arrived to the scene after responding to a call from an off-duty police officer working at Home Depot. The off-duty police officer had called for assistance for an arrest. The two responding officers were reportedly shot shortly after their arrival on the scene.
