Man Hit by Train, Killed on Northwest Highway Near Taylor St, West of Hart Rd, Barrington

METRA TRAINS ON UP NORTHWEST LINE HALTED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS
Barrington police and Barrington Countryside FPD firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:59 AM Tuesday March 27, 2018 to a report of a person hit by a train, 811 West Northwest Highway Barrington, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the location of the incident is the eastbound side of Route 14 right across from Taylor.

The train involved is a Metra passenger train (#606).

Inbound and outbound train movement has been halted near Barrington due to a pedestrian incident. The duration of this delay is unknown but extensive delays are anticipated. Eastbound Northwest Highway was backed up to about Cuba Road at 6:30 a.m. A utility pole fire with sparking and arcing was also reported in the area about 4:42 a.m. There were reports of a utility pole burning as late as 6:35 a.m. ComEd was on the scene at about 5:47 a.m. where a pole was on fire near Northwest Highway and 24th Street.
