An EMT Says Police Wouldn’t Let Medics Into Parkland School; Although It’s Normal for EMS to Stage While Scene Is Secured, Was It Too Long?

EMT says first responders were blocked from attending to wounded at Parkland, Florida high school.

An EMT said some EMS teams requested to go inside, but were denied. The Coral Springs-Parkland fire chief said it is procedure that EMS personnel do not go into a scene until the scene is cleared or declared secure by law enforcement. EMS personnel wait in a staging area

Was the staging more prolonged than necessary?

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating all the actions by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi said, “I know a lot more than you all do now, so all I am going to say is ‘yes’ … I believe there needs to be a full investigation, and I don’t think some people were honest, and we’re going to investigate this in Florida, and the right thing will be done.”
