Pickup Truck Crashes Off Northbound Route 53 Through 2 Fences into Backyard at Wilke Rd and Roanoke Dr, Arlington Heights

Pickup truck crash off Route 53 into side streets in Arlington Heights near Wilke Road and Roanoke Drive, Arlington Heights.

Illinois State police, Palatine firefighter/paramedics and Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:25 PM Sunday November 26, 2017 to a report of a crash on northbound Route 53 south of Rand Road that turned out to end up in a yard near Wilke Road and Roanoke Drive Arlington Heights, Il. Initially police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the crash was on northbound Route 53 south of Rand Road. The crash was actually a one-pickup truck crash. The pickup truck exited the northbound lanes of Route 53, crashing through a fence, crossing a frontage road, and hitting a fence in a backyard on Wilke Road. The house where the backyard crash was located is at the northeast corner of Wilke Road and Roanoke Drive, Palatine.

There was a report of two infants or children removed from the vehicle with one or two adults still in the pickup truck before firefighter/paramedics arrived.

Arlington Heights Ambulance 4’s crew and Squad 2’s crew were also dispatched for the same crash two minutes later — after the crash was also reported on Wilke Road north of Roanoke Drive. Palatine firefighters on arrival, and first on the scene, confirmed the crash reports were reporting the same crash.

Palatine firefighter/paramedics reported they were on the scene. They were located in Arlington Heights jurisdiction (District 4), and took command of the incident.

The gas tank of the pickup truck was ruptured by a street sign metal post, and was leaking gasoline. Palatine firefighters stood by with a hose line while A Express towing company worked to remove the truck.

Three patients were transported by Palatine and Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital. Their injuries initially appeared to be non-life-threatening.
