Man Shot at Shell Gas Station on Lake St, Just West of Interstate 355 Near Medinah Rd, Addison

Addison police and firefighter/paramedics responded just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday November 26, 2017 to a report of a shooting victim associated with an attempted carjacking at a Shell gas station at 2449 West Lake Street.

Police said a 19-year-old man parked his car at the Shell Gas Station at the southeast corner of Lake Street and Medinah Road at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, and went inside the gas station store to make a purchase. When the man returned to his car he was approached by three masked men.

One of the men was armed with a gun, and shot the driver in the shoulder when the victim attempted to get away from the carjackers by putting his car in reverse. The three suspects then fled. The direction of travel of the offenders was not available. The gas station is located west of Swift Road, just south of Medinah Country Club golf course, and is less than one mile west of I-355.

Police said the victim initially didn’t realize he had been shot, and drove away. When he realized he was shot, he returned to the gas station. Firefighter/paramedics transported him to Good Samaritan Hospital. He was treated for the gunshot wound and released.

Addison police are reviewing surveillance video from the gas station, are looking for the three suspects involved in the shooting/attempted carjacking, and are investigating the case.

Many carjacking attempts occur at gas stations in proximity to expressways.
