Naperville police responded about 1:08 a.m. Monday August 21, 2017 a report of an armed robbery in block of 600 South Route 59. Police received a report that two men robbed a 14-year-old boy of his handbag containing electronics. One of the male offenders was armed with a silver and black semi-automatic handgun, according to police.

The first offender is described as a male/black or male/Hispanic in his late teens with black, faded hair and a thin mustache. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The second offender, armed with the gun, is described as a male/black in his late teens, 6’0″ with a medium build, a small goatee, and black hair in a bun. He was wearing a red shirt, black shoes and earrings.

Before Naperville police arrived, the two men left the scene in a red vehicle with front end damage, according to the victim. Police spotted the suspected offenders’ vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle. The offenders refused to stop and police chose to terminate the pursuit because of safety issues related to speeding and erratic driving.

Police found the red vehicle abandoned in the block of 1200 Webster Road a short time later. A handgun was found inside or near the abandoned car.

Naperville police are continuing to search for the two men accused of robbing the 14-year-old boy.

Citizens with information about the robbery are urged to call police at 630-420-6666.
