Fox Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:25 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 to an ATV vehicle crash on Honing Road near Precision Drive.
First responders discovered the driver of the ATV was ejected into a pond after the ATV hit a tree, and that citizens had already rescued the victim, who was unconscious, from the pond.
Flight for Life was requested to the scene and landed at the landing zone that was designated at the Jewel-Osco parking lot, 1350 US 12, (southwest corner of US 12 and Big Hollow Road). The victim was transported by ambulance to the Jewel-Osco parking lot, where he was transferred to the Flight for Life helicopter.
The victim was transported by the Flight for Life helicopter to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was listed in critical condition.
The ATV crash scene was about 1,000 feet east of the location where Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was found shot and killed at 128 Honing Road in a wooded area in Fox Lake. Police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz staged his own homicide, before killing himself about 8:11 a.m. Tuesday morning, September 1, 2015.
