CHICAGO BEARS RADIO -- WBBM Newsradio 780 "Traffic on the 8's"

Elk Grove police released the identity of a homicide victim that was fatally shot in the neck, and discovered by a hotel employee at the Motel 6 Sunday, May 21, 2017 about 12:56 p.m.

Police say Larry Moore, age 33, of Chicago, was found dead Sunday afternoon in a motel room by an employee of the Motel 6 at 1000 West Devon Avenue. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, Moore was shot in the neck and pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m. Sunday.

Elk Grove Village police report that a suspect is in custody following the fatal shooting of Larry Moore. Elk Grove police investigators and members of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office interviewed the suspect and charges are pending, according to police. Elk Grove police were assisted by members of the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) for the homicide investigation.

Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:56 p.m. Sunday May 21, 2017 to a motel room at Motel 6, 1000 West Devon Avenue to a report of a man unresponsive and not breathing.

Larry Moore was found unconscious and not breathing in a motel room. Police and firefighter/paramedics discovered he had a gunshot wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene in the motel, which is located just west of I-290/IL-53 and north of Devon Avenue in western Elk Grove Village.

The Motel 6 location on Devon Avenue is at the Elk Grove Village border with Itasca directly across the street to the south, and about 1.5 mile from the border with Schaumburg to the west.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide, but the name of the victim was not initially released pending notification of his family.

Police and firefighter/paramedics, prior to their arrival, did not appear to be aware of any violence involved in the call at the Motel 6.

Any citizens with information about the fatal shooting are urged to call Elk Grove Village Police Department at 847-357-4100.
