More Shots Fired on I-290 Near Sacramento Blvd, Illinois State Police Investigating

Illinois State Police responded about about 10:54 a.m. Monday December 5, 2016 to a report of shots fired and a crash on the inbound (eastbound) Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) near Kedzie. An investigation was immediately underway, and all lanes of the inbound Eisenhower Expressway were shut down Monday morning at South Independence Boulevard as Illinois State Police. thelocation was also described as a shooting west of South Sacramento Boulevard.

State police reported gunfire was exchanged between occupants in two vehicles in the inbound lanes of I-290 just west of Sacramento Boulevard or somewhere between Sacramento Boulevard and Kedzie Avenue. Shell casings were found near Independence Boulevard.

One of the vehicles with shooter(s) was involved in a crash, according to Illinois State Police. The vehicle involved in the crash exited at Sacramento Boulevard. The other vehicle was last seen eastbound on I-290.

As of 11:20 a.m. Monday Illinois State police were not aware of any gunshot injuries related to the vehicle occupants that fled. No one was report injured with a gunshot wound in the crashed car.

At noon the inbound Eisenhower Expressway was backed up past Desplaines Avenue — almost to the Des Plaines River, and about a 7-mile backup.
