A dolphin leaping from a breaking wave landed on surprised surfer Jed Gradisen in Western Australia.

Jed Gradisen, age 13, had a lucky escape when a dolphin jumped from the water and embedded its nose into his board as he caught a wave.

Gradisen was surfing near the Western Australian town of Kalbarri when the dolphin shot straight out from the top of the wave and right onto his board. The dolphin did hit his shoulder and part of his back.

‘I saw [the dolphins] coming and I though “oh my god they’re coming straight for me”,’ Gradisen said.
