No More Stingray Cell Site Simulators: Illinois Stops Warrantless Cellphone Surveillance by Police

Illinois has become the latest state to limit cell phone surveillance by requiring law enforcement agencies to obtain warrants before using cell-site simulators, or Stingrays, which trick cellphones into thinking there is a tower nearby, when it’s actually police.
