Longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin announced that she and former US Rep. Anthony Weiner are separating after new reports surfaced that he sent sexually suggestive photos again. CNN’s Miguel Marquez reports
The pundits today analyze whether the Weiner scandal is just tabloid dirt or a national security issue. And some are suspicious about the proximity in timing of this Wiener news to recent news that Huma Abedin from 1996 until 2008 was an assistant editor at a publication called the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs with connection to Abdullah Omar Nasseef, Advisory Editorial Board member. Naseef is also the chairman of the World Muslim Congress — a world congress that Husain Haqqani, former Pakistan ambassador to the US, has described as playing “a crucial role in building up the feeling of Muslim victimization that has subsequently fed the global Islamist movement.” Multiple journalists claim the connection needs vetting regarding any possible negative associations with Saudi Arabia, opposition to women’s rights, and any efforts to facilitate the Muslim Brotherhood and its efforts to propagate Islamic supremacist ideology internationally.
“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy.”
