Authorities near San Diego say a man walking on sidewalk was killed in a hit-and-run accident. The driver who allegedly hit him drove with the victim lodged in her windshield for almost a mile. Angie Lee from CBS affiliate KFMB has details.

A suspected DUI driver hit a pedestrian at approximately 6:20 a.m. in the block of 4000 block of Mission Avenue, Oceanside near San Diego, California.

Esteysi Sanchez Izazaga, 29, known as Stacy Sanchez, drove her car onto the sidewalk and hit the man while driving a Pontiac. She is suspected of driving under the influence, according to police.

The victim went into the windshield and through an opening in the broken glass, head first. The man’s body was lodged in the windshield opening and front passenger seat. The force also broke the rear window of the Pontiac when the man’s leg detached, went through the rear window, and came to rest on the truck of the car.

Sanchez kept driving for about a mile with the man’s body facedown in the passenger seat.

The man was changing oil in his vehicle at the side of the street when he was hit.
