Gas Explosion Reported; Significant Damage to Townhouse Apartment on Linda Ln Near Holly Ln, Unincorporated Des Plaines

Cook County Sheriff’s police and North Maine and Des Plaines firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:15 AM Thursday to gas explosion with a structural collapse at 9955 Linda Lane Des Plaines, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that there was a gas explosion in a basement of a townhouse apartment building.

Window frames were blown out and a significant collapse occurred in part of the building.

No victims were found inside the building, which is either a two-unit or four unit building.

A TRT Box Alarm for Technical Rescue assembled special equipment and rescue technician typical for structural collapses. The main function today of the TRT Box Alarm, which was raised to the third level, is probably for stabilization of the building to prevent further collapse.

An EMS Box alarm for extra ambulance was also activated for any possible patient at the scene.

Nicor and ComEd are also on the scene.
