Whole Foods: Cake with Alleged Gay Slur Is Fake; Files Sanctions Against Plaintiff’s Attorney

Whole Foods Market Inc. is fighting back with legal action and evidence of a security video that it says contradicts a pastor’s claim that he received a cake from the store with a gay slur on it.

Jordan Brown, an openly gay pastor in Texas, who preaches at the non-denominational Church of Open Doors, said he ordered a cake with the words “Love Wins” to be written in blue icing on April 14 for a member of his congregation. According to an emotional distress lawsuit filed Monday in Travis County, Texas court, Brown says when he got to his car he saw “Love Wins F**” had been scrawled instead.

Whole Foods countersued on Tuesday, saying the entire incident was a hoax perpetrated by Jordan Brown.
