Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched about 2:45 PM Saturday March 26, 2016 to the block of 33100 North Fairfield Road, Unincorporated Round Lake, for a report of possible human remains located in an abandoned shed structure.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and spoke to the property care-taker, who located what he believed was human remains. The remains appear to be a skull, which the care-taker located while removing items from an abandoned shed on the property.

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the scene and conducted a thorough search of the abandoned shed. The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded and collected the possible human remains, all of which appear to be extremely aged. The Lake County Coroner’s Office will have the remains examined by a forensic pathologist, forensic odontologist, and anthropologist, to determine if they are from a human.

Sheriff’s Detectives continue to investigate to determine how the items came to be located in the abandoned structure.

As more information becomes available, it will be released via official media release.
