Skokie police responded about 10:24 AM Thursday to a check for well-being in the block of 8200 Keating Avenue Skokie, IL. Police arrived at the address and found Catherine Benyamin dead in her apartment.A death investigation is underway and police believe the death is a homicide.
Her son Joshua was dropped off at a church near Halsted and Roosevelt in Chicago by a man who matches the description of Joshua’s father, Jermaine Powell.
Police have not released how Benyamin was killed. Joshua is safe with family after being evaluated at the UIC Medical Center.
