Police say Lana Meisner was killed after she moved a rifle that accidentally discharged at the couple’s Studio City home. Greg Mills reports.

Lana Rae Meisner, 63, called police about 5:30 p.m. Sunday to the 3700 block of Eureka Drive to report a drunken man in their Studio City house. Police took a domestic violence report and left without any arrests.

Police returned about 90 minutes later, responding to a report that Lana Rae Meisner was shot. She died in a closet after a rifle she was removing from a case accidentally fired and hit her in the face and head. Apparently, while lifting the gun from the case, another item in the case hit the trigger and caused the gun to fire.

Lana Rae Meisner died of a single gunshot wound after paramedics were unable to save her life.

The shooting death occurred a few weeks after fellow Eagles founder Glenn Frey died from complications of rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia, while recovering from gastrointestinal tract surgery.
