Shamrock 5K Beer Run Chicago Arlington Heights 2016.
This morning’s Chicago 2016 Shamrock Beer Run in downtown Arlington Heights was a success. The run began a little late after the scheduled 11:00 a.m. start time, but that didn’t break any enthusiasm for the participants.
The race began just west of Vail Avenue and Campbell Street (217 W. Campbell Street), and proceeded in streets south of downtown Arlington Heights to as far south as Orchard Street
The fun run involved a post-run get together at the finish line on Highland Avenue, just south of Campbell Street. The sights to see included green face paint, green wigs, green dyed hair, big hats, orange beards, and a lot of bright green clothing.
The event served alcohol, so local laws and ordinances applied, and participation was limited to those who are 21 years of age or older. A valid proof of age ID was required to receive a wrist band that signifies an approved participant. The crowd was friendly, and it appeared there were no problems on the route.
A large crowd of over 1800 participants ran and walked the route. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Animal House Shelter, Protected Tomorrow Charities, Salute Inc. and Shelter Inc. A small amount of proceeds also went to free beer for the participants.
The event was sponsored by …
Church Street Brewery
Finch’s Beer Co.
Granite City Brewery
