Spotlight was released on November 6, 2015, by Open Road Films. On February 28, 2016 at the 88th Academy Awards, the film won Best Picture, as well as Best Original Screenplay for Josh Singer and Tom McCarthy’s work. In all, the film was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Ruffalo), Best Supporting Actress (McAdams), Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.
