Paramedics did not transport a patient away from the scene, and police confirmed that a death investigation was underway Monday night. Police said there were suspicious circumstances at the scene, but the incident was not classified a homicide investigation as of 7:45 p.m.

Police were canvassing apartment units nearby the scene — going door-to-door to interview neighbors.

Yellow police crime scene tape surrounded two vehicles parked near the apartment building in the west lot. Police also drove an unmarked car on grass to a rear patio, which was also marked off with yellow police crime scene tape.

The Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to the scene. Their truck parked on the west parking lot of the apartment complex after arriving at about 8:30 p.m. Monday.
