Missing McHenry Girl Shot Before Man Kills Himself in Parents’ Phoenix Home


Phoenix Police (Arizona) just after 7:00 p.m. Friday January 15, 2016 began investigating a missing teen case at a home near 42nd Avenue and Cactus Road at the request of police officials in McHenry, Illinois. Police from McHenry, Illinois, northwest of Chicago, contacted Phoenix Police about 7 p.m. to request they check on the home near 42nd Avenue and Cactus Road where a missing 16-year-old girl was believed to have been brought to Arizona by her 24-year-old boyfriend, Alexander O’Neill.

At about 9:15 p.m. Phoenix police visited a second time when they discovered O’Neill’s vehicle at the home.

Police were speaking with O’Neill’s parents through a locked iron gate outside the front door of the home when two gunshots were heard inside the home. Police immediately entered the home and found a 24-year-old man dead or dying and the teen girl from McHenry, Illinois seriously injured with a gunshot wound.

The female teen was transported to a local hospital where she was listed in extremely critical condition.

The 24-year-old male, identified by police as Alexander O’Neill, was dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
