Chicagoland weather radar shows snow, freezing rain, and snow over northern Illinois at 3:20 PM.

Satellite images show storm clouds over Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the north half of Illinois at 3:20 PM.

Strong East winds expected to start to diminish gradually after 5:00 p.m.– gusting to from 50 MPH at 5:00 p.m. to only 15 MPH at midnight.

Precipitation is expected to continue mostly as rain after 4:00 p.m. Some lightning and thunder may occur between 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The falling freezing precipitation is expected to stop by 5:00 p.m., but rain will be steady until about 9:00 p.m. and then taper to lighter rain, and stop about 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Radar shows there might be a decrease in rain by about 4:30 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. Monday evening.

  LAKE.

* MAIN IMPACT...A MIX OF ACCUMULATING FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL
  LIKELY CONTINUE THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON FOR PORTIONS OF COOK
  COUNTY WELL AWAY FROM THE LAKE. A LIGHT ICE GLAZE AND MINOR
  ADDITIONAL SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE.

* OTHER IMPACTS...VERY STRONG WINDS GUSTING TO 50 MPH WILL

Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then rain likely. Low around 34. Breezy, with an east wind 20 to 25 mph becoming south 15 to 20 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.
