War veteran Bob Carbajal, 62, lost his wife of four decades three years ago.

Wednesday, Carbajal saved the life of a stranger when the woman began choking at Frank’s Grill in Houston. He put the woman on her side and used a finger sweep to clear the obstruction after he set his wallet aside on a restaurant counter.

With the woman breathing on her own, he returned to retrieve his wallet. The wallet was gone — along with $300 cash designated for his grandchildren’s Christmas gifts, credit cards, his military ID and an irreplaceable photo of his late wife when she was a teenager.
