Armed Robbery with a Shot Fired at Algonquin Rd and Mount Prospect Rd, Des Plaines

Des Plaines police responded about 12:18 PM Wednesday to an armed robbery at Algonquin Road and Mount Prospect Road, Des Plaines, IL. Police received a report that a victim or a business was robbed with at least one shot fired. There are no retail businesses at this intersection.

The armed robbery is reported to have occurred near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Mount Prospect Road at about 11:17 a.m.

The offender was described as a male/black subject 5’9″ medium build, wearing a dark sweatshirt, and armed with a handgun.

The offender took a phone, and possibly fled in a green Pontiac.

In an apparently unrelated incident, Des Plaines police and firefighters responded to a garage fire about 11:11 a.m. in the 400 block of North 6th Avenue. One person was injured at the fire.
