Rollover Semi-Trailer Truck Crash Spills Scrap Metal on Palatine Rd East of Route 53, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:46 AM Wednesday to a rollover truck crash on eastbound Palatine Road, just east of Route 53 Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a semi-trailer truck dump truck overturned, and that the driver may have been trapped.

A passerby also reported seeing one person standing outside the truck.

Firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a semi-trailer dump truck rolled over onto its driver’s side. The driver was out of the vehicle.

The driver did not appear to be injured on the scene.

The semi-trailer dump truck was carrying scrap metal. The truck rolled and slid from the ramp across the grass parkway between the ramp and Route 53 and came to rest across eastbound lanes of Palatine Road. The load of scrap metal spilled onto the road.

Illinois State Police had jurisdiction over the crash investigation. Arlington Heights Police Department and Palatine Police Department provided traffic control. Arlington Heights police also cleared some scattered metal pieces on the westbound lanes of Palatine Road.

Eastbound lanes of Palatine Road were blocked at Winston Drive, and the inside lane of Palatine Road was blocked at the crash scene. Police opened up the inside lane of westbound Palatine Road as soon as they cleared the metal scraps in the lane.
