Saturday, during Kansas State football’s halftime show, the school’s band halftime show was a “Space” theme that involved scenes from Star Trek and Star Wars. The band members attempted to form the Kansas mascot — a Jayhawk — and and the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek. Unfortunately most people thought the Enterprise looked more like male genitalia.

“The chart below represents the drill from tonight’s show. There was absolutely no intent to display anything other than the Enterprise and the Jayhawk in battle. If I am guilty of anything it would be the inability to teach the drill in a manner that these young people could have succeeded. I do apologize for the misinterpretation and I assure you that I meant absolutely no disrespect or malice toward the University of Kansas.”

The Kansas State Marching Band is known for surprises …

K-State Marching Band surprises the crowd at the KU vs KSU volleyball match after 2 sets when the players went to the locker rooms. Dr. Frank Tracz came out blowing a whistle and yelling NO NO NO STOP, shortly after the K-State drumline was introduced and started playing. The entire marching band then rushed the crowded court in Ahearn Field House and their songs echoed in the historic field house.

Kansas State’s performance was not as bad as some of the antics of the Stanford University marching band [Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band (LSJUMB)] …

They have spelled out “NO BALLZ” and “NCUT” in their halftime history. In 1991 their drum major dressed as a nun and directed the band with a wooden cross instead of his baton at a Notre Dame game.
