NRG Energy acquired Goal Zero, a provider of portable solar and charging products, in August 2015.

NRG Energy, Inc. is an American energy company, dual-headquartered in West Windsor Township, New Jersey and Houston, Texas. NRG was formerly the wholesale arm of Xcel Energy, and was spun off in bankruptcy in 2004.

NRG has three divisions: NRG Business, NRG Home and NRG Renew. NRG Business manages conventional generation portfolio in the wholesale markets. NRG Renew handles utility-scale renewable energy projects. NRG Home manages the retail business and its 3 million customers, including rooftop solar installation, home energy management and electric vehicle charging.
