Large male Panera manager at least a foot taller than employee connect with a punch to the head.
A video captured in a Panera restaurant at 304 Park Avenue South New York shows a female employee yelling at a male manager — saying, “You put your hands on me, you put your hands on me?” She slaps him with a left as he was holding on to her right arm. The white-shirted manager returns two punches. The second punch causes her to hit a wall and fall to the ground.
The woman was apparently quitting her job in the middle of her shift when the disturbance occurred, according to the YouTube user named Midgarrr, who posted the cellphone video.
One or two people — one reported to be the camera operator — can be heard saying, “don’t punch.”
News blog Gawker reported yesterday that a tipster/witness wrote in that the manager had previously thrown the woman down some stairs when the woman returned to retaliate. The video starts when the 5’2″ female employee returned saying, “You put your hands on me, you put your hands on me?”
A spokeswoman for Panera Bread confirmed that the altercation was reported and said that the two employees have been fired. The company released a statement saying, “We have a zero tolerance policy for violence and worked swiftly with authorities to investigate … The associates who were determined to be involved no longer work for Panera. The health and safety of our associates and guests will always be our top priority.”
