Vehicles Ignite in Traffic Jam on 15 Freeway as Brush Fire Spreads Through Cajon Pass, California

A fast-moving wildfire spread through the Cajon Pass on Friday afternoon, jumping the 15 Freeway and burning at least 12 vehicles stopped in a traffic jam. Cars, a car carrier, and a semi-trailer truck were among the vehicles burning. Responding fire crews were also stuck in traffic.

A FedEx tandem trailer truck was seen directly behind a semi-trailer truck that was fully-involved with fire.

The fire broke out about 2:30 p.m. off the freeway just north of State Route 138 , prompting the closure of all southbound and northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway.

The fire has increased in size from 500 acres to 2000 acres in about 30 minutes.
