Tornado Touches Down in Cameron, Illinois Near Monmouth About 160 miles Southwest of Chicago

A large multi-vortex tornado touched down just outside of Monmouth, Illinois. Video shows debris in the air along with many power flashes and lightning.

A tornado touched down in Cameron, Illinois causing extensive damage, but apparently caused no serious injuries. The same tornado or other tornadoes were also reported near Monmouth, Kirkwood, and Biggsville, Illinois about 160 miles southwest of Chicago. The tornadoes were reported about 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. CDT.

A tornado was reported sighted near US 34.

A MABAS Disaster Box and Technical Rescue Team (TRT) Box was called to search collapsed structures for possible victims.

Electric power company Ameren Illinois reported last night that thousands were without power in Monmouth and surrounding Warren and Henderson Counties.

An emergency shelter was set up last night at the First Street Armoury in Monmouth for any displaced residents.
