Tornado Sirens in Palatine Also Heard in Arlington Heights Activated Either by Malfunction or Accidentally Tuesday Afternoon

Tornado sirens were activated in Palatine about 5:24 p.m. and continued until about 5:27 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The tornado siren is a steady tone, which was also heard in Arlington Heights.

There are no National Weather Service warnings in Illinois at this time.

A reliable source reports that the siren was not intentionally set off. The possible activation is either a malfunction or an accidental activation. Officials are investigating the cause of the activation.
