VIDEO: Extra alarm house fire on Windridge Drive near Algonquin Road and Palatine Road, South Barrington.

South Barrington police and Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics responded just before 12:50 PM Monday to a report of a house fire at 2 Windridge South Barrington, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find fire and smoke coming from the roof of a large luxury home, just southwest of Algonquin Road and Palatine Road.

Firefighters immediately called for a MABAS Box Alarm and elevated the alarm to the third level. Fire burned through the roof and destroyed much of the second floor.

Firefighters from Algonquin Lake in the Hills, Bartlett, Buffalo Grove, Carpentersville, Cary, Countryside, Hoffman Estates, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, Long Grove, Palatine, Palatine-Rural, Prospect Heights, Round Lake, Schaumburg, Rutland-Dundee, Schaumburg, Wauconda and others responded to assist Barrington & Countryside firefighters.

The fire was extinguished by about 2:00 p.m.

The fire possibly started from embers from a fire pit that was burning in the backyard. Winds were west and southwest blowing toward the house form the backyard at about 23 MPH with gusts to 28 before the fire was reported and during the fire.

A fire caused by a resident burning landscaping materials in the backyard spread to a luxury mansion and destroyed the mansion in Barrington Hills on Saturday April 18, 2015. Barrington Countryside FPD firefighter/paramedics were also first due at the mansion fire in April.

The South Barrington neighborhood has no fire hydrants, which required several water tanks trucks to respond to bring water to portable pools at the scene. Firefighters also may have hooked up to hydrants in Hoffman Estates.
