The FAA is investigating an incident at O’Hare International Airport involving an American Eagle airliner and a United Express jet Tuesday night, February 17, 2015.

An American Eagle pilot was cleared for take off Tuesday night, when he was required to take quick action to avoid hitting the United Express jet that steered onto the runway without air traffic control’s clearance.

The United Express pilot missed an assigned turn or misunderstood assigned instructions from one taxiway to another.

In another incident on Wednesday February 18, 2015, a Gate Gourmet truck was reported to have been across a safety line into a taxiway while loading a Boeing 767. The truck was hit by a Boeing 747 that was taxiing on that taxiway. The crash did not cause any injuries and did not cause any leaking fuel. Damage to aircraft was being inspected after the incident.
