Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:06 PM Tuesday to a utility pole fire between buildings at 2001 Arthur Avenue Elk Grove Village, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that flames were as close as three feet from the building.

Police on the scene confirmed flames showing near a high voltage transformer.

Firefighters were standing by when some confusion over the visible fire caused another fire response to 1990 East Devon Avenue. Firefighters confirmed that the second call was related to the first call on Arthur Avenue.

Com Ed arrived to investigate and shut down the electric grid for the area at about 5:13 p.m.

Com Ed reported less than 10 customers will be affected by interrupted power. The estimated restoration time was reported to be 7:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
