Two Window Washers Rescued on Scaffolding About 69 Stories Up 1 World Trade Center, New York

FDNY and NYPD along with the Port Authority responded about 1:00 pm ET to a technical rescue/high angle rescue to reach workers and secure a hanging scaffold platform at 1 World Trade Center.

Window washers were done cleaning the windows and were about to ascend to to the roof of the tower when the cable that pulls the scaffold up became loose or snapped.

Two workers were stranded about 68-69 stories up, and firefighters were reported to be planning to cut through the glass and/or use a second scaffold to rescue them.

The glass was cut and opening is visible at 2:13 p.m. ET.

The first worker was rescued at 2:15 p.m. ET.

The second worker was rescued at 2:16 p.m. ET.
