Michael Phelps DUI Arrest After Speeding Fort McHenry Tunnel, Maryland

Police arrested Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps on a DUI charge early Tuesday, and officials say he was speeding and failed field sobriety tests when officers pulled him over.

Michael Phelps was stopped after he was clocked going 84 MPH in a 45 MPH zone and observed crossing lane lines in the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Maryland. He was driving his hite Land Rover. After he failed the field sobriety, he was transported in custody to a nearby by police station. His B.A.C. is reported to have been twice the legal limit.

The DUI arrest is Phelps second DUI in Maryland. In 2004 at age 19 he also arrested DUI. He pled guilty in exchange for 18 months probation.
