Filming of Divergent Sequel Insurgent This Weekend Near Chicago River from Columbus to Clark

Bridges over the Chicago River were up at about 8:00 a.m. and were scheduled to remain up until about 9:00 a.m. from Columbus to Clark for the filming of Insurgent, the sequel movie to Divergent.

For periods of five to ten minutes, pedestrians will be asked to wait inside buildings near the shooting scene. Boats in the area were blocked in the Chicago River area near the filming site.

From 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Dearborn Street, State Street, and Wabash Avenue were closed from Wacker Drive south to Kinzie Street.

Michigan Avenue was closed from Wacker Drive south to Illinois Street.

Lower Michigan Avenue and Lower Columbus Drive was closed from Wacker Drive to East North Water Street.

Sidewalks on Wacker Drive and along with the Riverwalk were closed intermittently from Dearborn Street east to Lake Shore Drive.

The bridges are scheduled to be raised again at 9 a.m. to allow sailboats to proceed from Lake Michigan to winter storage areas.
