Radio Calls of Pennsylvania Troopers’ Ambush

Police continue to search for whoever killed one trooper and severely injured another outside a PA police barracks.

Two Pennsylvania State troopers were shot about 10:50 PM Friday night as one was finishing his shift and the other was about to begin his shift in front of the Blooming Grove barracks, which is located on Route 402 in Pike County. Hundreds of police officers are searching for their killers.

A Blooming Grove Township, Pike County-One Pennsylvania State Police trooper is dead and another has been injured in the shooting that occurred outside the Blooming Grove barracks in Pike County.

State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan says that Cpl. Bryon Dickson of Dunmore was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass was wounded when shots were fired Friday night outside the Blooming Grove barracks. The station is in a wooded area surrounded by state game lands.

No shooting suspects are in custody, the offender(s) is (are) unknown. As of Saturday morning there is no description of the shooter(s), and the area around the barracks is blocked off as an intense manhunt is underway for any suspects.

Several helicopters were seen in the air overnight and a heavy police presence was seen on the ground near the state police barracks.

In a news conference at 7:00 AM Saturday morning from the Pike County 911 Center, Frank Noonan, Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner, described the attack as an “ambush” and a “cowardly attack” that took place at the time of a shift-change. Noonan said he believes the attack “was directed at the Pennsylvania state police.” He said he understands the concern of the public but believes that the police were the direct target. He also told the public that they should expect some road closures while the investigation is underway.

The Pennsylvania State police are being assisted by law enforcement agencies in New York state and New Jersey as the investigation progresses.
