SUV Crash with Utility Pole at Main St and Lions Dr, Lake Zurich ICYMI

Lake Zurich police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:15 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 to a report of a single-vehicle crash into a utility pole at Main Street and Lions Drive in Lake Zurich.




Police and firefighters on arrival discovered a red SUV hit a utility pole, dragged the utility pole across the street to the village hall property and hit a ground mounted transformer and a flagpole outside the village hall building.




The driver was able to walk away from the crash with only minor injuries, but he may have had a medical issue prior to the crash. The driver escaped live wire hazards.

The male driver, in his 50s was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

A Village Hall meeting for Monday night was canceled because of the crash and power outage.

Village Hall remained shutdown Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
