Chicagoland weather radar [LIVE PRECIPITATION INDICATOR RADAR] shows rain and thundershowers moving across much of northern Illinois. Lightning and thunder is occurring across northeast Illinois and east central Illinois — radar image shows precipitation moving east northeast.

Precipitation is expected to diminish by 1:00 p.m. and start up again after 7:00 p.m. tonight with thunderstorms or thundershowers. About 0.75 inch of rainfall is possible from Thursday morning through about 7:00 p.m. Friday. Heavier rain and slight severe storm risk downstate. At 8:30 a.m. its 51 degrees in Champaign, IL and 66 degrees in Carbondale.

Satellite images show all of Illinois is under clouds. clouds are not expected to decrease until after 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 4am, then showers likely. Temperature rising to around 44 by 4am. East wind 10 to 15 mph becoming south southeast after midnight and southwest at about 5:00 a.m. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph, and then pick up about 6:00 am. Friday — increasing gusts from 29 to 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
