Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:52 AM Sunday to an activated fire alarm at Mallard Cove Condominiums, 1106 South New Wilke Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report while en route that smoke was coming from an elevator shaft.
Firefighters reported a smell of smoke in the front lobby and reported smoke originating from the elevator equipment room. No fire was reported in the elevator room and the smoke was believed to be coming from a burnt out motor or other equipment.
All extra companies were returned, and the crew from Tower Ladder One are working to secure the scene, and ventilate smoke out of the building.
