The City of Prospect Heights recently installed 15 security cameras in areas where the highest volume of police calls occur.
Security cameras monitor people and vehicles entering and exiting the Piper Lane neighborhood, and in locations near the North Central Service Metra Station at 101 S. Wolf Road.
Police officers can access video images from the camera inside the police department, from police squad cars, or from smartphones.

The camera security system also will be offered to other locations, including multifamily property associations located on Old Willow Road, and the River Trails Park District. The city will maintain control and data storage for images, while the associations will be responsible for their cameras and connectivity into the system.
A security camera has been located at the intersection of Piper Lane and Burning Bush Lane for several years (See Google Street view …).
The City of Prospect Heights has one red light camera located at the corner of Southbound Milwaukee Avenue and Eastbound Palatine Frontage Rd. That location is a no turn on red lane. The photo-enforced camera is not connected to the security camera network.
