Telephone Fraud Similar to Grandparent Scam Reported to Police, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 7:19 AM Tuesday of a telephone scam of a resident in the block of 1100 West Grove Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders posed as a public defender, called the victim to report a family member was arrested and demanded money for bond. The offender(s) asked victims to transfer money from their bank account.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
