David Easterling, Security Guard for Chicago Rapper “Twista” Found Dead in House Fire, Bakers Ave

Chicago police and firefighters responded about 6:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 to a house fire at 8368 South Baker Avenue. Firefighters reported light smoke on arrival, and immediately found a male victim in the house. A Chicago Fire Department battalion chief immediately called for police and a fire investigator to the scene. The victim was identified as Davy Easterling, age 31, a security guard for Chicago rapper “Twista” after his charred body was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the throat and chest. The death was ruled a homicide. The Chicago police and the Chicago Police Bomb and Arson Unit continue to investigate the case.

Davy Easterling is the second security staffer connected to Twista to die in the past ten years. Arthur ‘Butch’ Dixon, 45, died from multiple injuries after Twista’s cousin, Otis Bankhead, fell asleep at the wheel of a tour bus and crashed in Pennsylvania in September 2004. Twista was injured in the crash, which occurred while returning from a cancelled concert.
