VIDEO: Police activity where police officer was shot and a gunman was barricaded in a townhouse with a female hostage on Thursday night.

UPDATE: Arlington Heights police responded about 6:52 PM to a report of a man with a gun in a townhouse just northwest of Arlington Heights Road in Palatine Road behind the Palm Court restaurant. The Incident address is in the 1900 block of Windham Court. The nearest intersection is Windham Court and Wheeler Street.

A police officer was inside the townhouse and was shot in the neck. Another police officer was able to pull him out of the townhouse and he has since been transported to Level I trauma center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Police are currently trying to negotiate with the gunman a female hostage is inside the townhouse, and are hoping for a peaceful resolution.

Four ambulances have been called to the scene as of 7:50 p.m.
