Arlington Heights Weather Forecast: Spotty Freezing Rain and Sleet Today and Tomorrow; Possible Heavy Snow Sunday

Chicagoland weather radar shows freezing rain headed for Arlington Heights. The freezing rain-rain line is over southern Arlington Heights. The freezing rain-snow line is near Rockford. All precipitation is minor and scattered. Freezing rain is possible this afternoon from noon to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Freezing rain is also expected start up again about 6:00 p.m. Saturday. Sleet is possible all day Saturday. At least 4 inches of snow is forecast by the end of the day on Sunday.

Big temperature differences from north to south in Illinois late this morning.

Winter Storm Watch in effect from December 21, 06:00 PM CST until December 22, 06:00 PM CST for Buffalo Grove, Cary, Long Grove, and Rockford.

A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect until December 20, 03:00 PM CST for Buffalo Grove, Cary, Long Grove, and Rockford.

Currently Arlington Heights is not under a Winter Storm Watch or a Freezing Rain Advisory.

For the storm coming Sunday, the precise location of the rain/snow line is still uncertain at this time. If we get snow, it will likely be heavy, wet snow.

Satellite images show mostly cloudy conditions throughout the Midwest. Cloud cover is forecast at 100 percent through Sunday.

A brief big chill is coming Monday/Tuesday overnight … 5 BELOW ZERO.
