CHICAGO BEARS RADIO -- WBBM Newsradio 780 "Traffic on the 8's"

Chicagoland weather radar [LIVE RADAR] is all clear at about 9:24 a.m. Saturday. Snow is forecast to start after 3:00 a.m. Sunday and continue through about 5:00 a.m. Monday. The heaviest snowfall rate is expected between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Sunday. Snow accumulation is expected to be about 1.5 inches with the heaver snowfall lightening about 11:00 p.m. Sunday night. Some freezing rain is possible between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Skilling pulls through with an awesome snowfall accumulation map for Twitter for our upcoming first significant snowfall. According to Tom Skilling’s map, it looks like Buffalo Grove will get more snow than Arlington Heights, and Arlington Heights will get more than Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, and O’Hare International Airport.

Satellite images show clear skies over northern and central Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and eastern Iowa. Clear skies are forecast all daylight hours Saturday with clouds increasing at about 9:00 p.m. and snow starting at about 3:00 a.m. If cloud cover comes earlier, lows won’t be as low as forecast.

Today’s high is expected to only hit 18 degrees at about 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The overnight low Friday/Saturday was 7 degrees, which coincided with the wind chill low of -7 degrees at 6:52 a.m.

Current wind chill temperatures from CNN.

The Saturday/Sunday low is expected to be 11 degrees from 7:00 p.m. to midnight. Temperatures will hold at about 12 degrees from midnight until about 5:00 a.m. Sunday’s high is expected to be 27 degrees at about 9:00 p.m. — otherwise holding around 25-26 degrees during the day Sunday with snow.

The average high for December 7 is 38 degrees and the average low for December 7 is 12 degrees. Next we brace for another cold blast that will last from Monday night until Thursday morning with lows of 7-10 degrees.
