CHICAGO BEARS RADIO -- WBBM Newsradio 780 "Traffic on the 8's"

Chicagoland weather radar [LIVE RADAR] shows sparse light precipitation moving quickly in a northerly direction over northern Illinois. Light drizzle is expected between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Satellite images show clouds covering most of the Midwest, excluding southern Illinois. The sky is expected to be mostly cloudy through Thursday night, partly cloudy Friday, and mostly sunny on Saturday.

Tom Skilling shows off the forecasted temperature drop differentials.

Interesting weather with a potential drop of 46 degrees from today’s high of 56 to Saturday’s low of 10 degrees at 5:00 a.m. Another surge of cold air might hit Monday night and Tuesday with a high of only 12-15 degrees on Tuesday.

After a period of gusty winds (14-15 mph) from the southeast from about 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., winds will die down., Then winds will pick up at about 7:00 p.m. and shift from southerly to westerly. Steady west winds of 15-16 mph are expected overnight Wednesday to Thursday with gusts of 20-22 mph.

The cold is bad news, but Megan Glaros of CBS2Chicago tells us we’re dodging two snow storms.

Temperatures will plummet starting at about 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and hit the freezing mark at about 5:00 a.m. Air temperature will drop to 30 degrees by 9:00 a.m. with a wind chill of 19 degrees. Thursday’s high will almost hit 32 degrees but the Thursday night/Friday morning low will drop to 17 degrees at 6:00 a.m., and the Friday night/Saturday morning low will drop to 10 degrees with a wind chill of -2 degrees at about 5:00 a.m. High Saturday? about 19 degrees at noon with a wind chill of 9-10 degrees.
