Arlington Heights Weather Forecast: Temperatures Drop Today With Rain Ending with Snow Showers About 2 PM; Icy Bridges Possible

UPDATE: Steady, light rain has moved into the area and the NWS hourly outlook forecasts an increase in snow compared to the forecast earlier this morning … 0.6 inch of snow possible by 3:00 p.m. for Arlington Heights.

Chicagoland weather radar shows mixed precipitation just over the Illinois-Wisconsin border. Random stations checked are reporting light rain or overcast skie in western Wisconsin, where the radar indicates possible mixed freezing precipitation.

Satellite images show clouds over most of the Midwest. Clouds are expected to gradually decrease after 2:00 p.m. with a light rain period from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ending with snow showers from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Snow accumulation is forecast to be less than .25 inch in Arlington Heights. The 4-inch soild temperature is 45 degrees, so no lasting accumulation is expected. Bridge decks might be slippery however with some accumulation and slick spots.

Steady northwest winds up to 15 mph today and overnight — gusting up to 25 mph.
